The Assistant Director is assigned responsibilities related to the configuration, operation, and maintenance of technology platforms used to capture, store, and process information used in the administration of financial aid.

The Assistant Director participates directly in the design and execution of operational activities that result in the timely and accurate awarding, disbursement, and tracking of student aid.  The Assistant Director ensures that their work is in compliance with state, federal, NCAA, and institutional regulations.

Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, the responsibilities of the Assistant Director include, but are not limited to:

  • Review and approve student files to make financial aid award decisions as it applies to federal/state regulations
  • Counsel students in person, via phone, and via email concerning financial aid eligibility
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and state aid regulations as they relate to assigned duties to maintain institutional compliance
  • Assist in maintaining functional aspects of the Financial Aid module of Ellucian Banner, to include system setup, implementation, analysis, problem resolution, maintenance, reporting, and regulatory updates
  • Work with staff to improve efficiencies within all functional areas by using technology to provide systematic solutions to problems and enhancement of existing processes
  • Provide support in the FAFSA/ISIR data load process for student financial aid applications from the federal government
  • Provide support in developing new programs and processes with IT to automate, enhance and streamline processes

  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Three years of progressive financial aid experience
  • Possess extensive knowledge of information, practices, and procedures in financial aid to include federal and state regulations
  • Knowledge of student’s eligibility as determined by the Department of Education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of Ellucian Banner financial aid functions
  • Knowledge of automated financial aid systems, such as COD, FAA Access to CPS Online, NSLDS, NJFAMS
  • Experience working with CampusLogic StudentForms product
