Stockton University is looking for a Director/Senior Associate Director of Human Resources experienced in process improvement and change management, to work under the direction of the Interim Associate Vice President, Human Resources.  The Senior Associate Director will be required to make recommendations regarding the resolution of employee related issues by using sound judgment consistent with University standards, practices, regulations, policies, and procedures; and be responsible for developing an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, teamwork and high performance.

  • Manage units responsible for pension, benefits, payroll, labor relations, recruitment, training and workers' compensation;
  • Manage the University's labor relations program including grievances, disciplines and compliance with bargaining unit contracts for CWA, IFPTE, PBA and AFT and have a comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal employment laws and the NJ administrative codes;
  • Manage and implement the employee salary program, benefits administration, training, promotion and employee recognition programs;
  • Manage human resource operations by planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change;
  • Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing and updating policies, procedures, job descriptions and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organizational values;
  • Update job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining person networks, participating in professional organizations;
  • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with federal, state, and contract regulations in all areas of personnel administration including recruitment, appointment, job analysis, position classification, performance evaluation systems, leave benefits and new employee orientation;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a collaborative communication style;
  • Provide evidence of a demonstrated commitment to achieving a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Interim Associate Vice President, Human Resources.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in human resources, organizational development, counseling, psychology, or related field
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in human resource management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the New Jersey civil service system and its requirements
  • Experience in an institution of higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to work with both management and labor organizational leadership
