Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs for Student Health and Wellness, the Director for Health Outreach, Promotion, Education and Services (HOPE) will lead the operations for clinical ambulatory health services and prevention programs for approximately 10,000 students and serve as the primary spokesperson and consultant to campus partners and parents regarding student medical health and prevention.

The Director of Health Outreach, Promotion, Education and Services (HOPE) will collaborate with the Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Wellness, the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Director of Learning Access Programs
(LAP) and other campus partners to cultivate a safe and healthy learning environment through integrated health and wellness services and educational programs.

  • Synthesize, integrate, align, and lead Student Health Services staff, services, and operations
  • Provide direct supervision for clinical healthcare providers and non-clinical staff including physicians, nurse practitioners, a nutritionist, a health educator and support staff.  Collaborates with clinical medical service partners to ensure adequate staffing to meet student health service needs
  • Serve as a member of Stockton Cares, Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) and other campus committees that support student health, safety, and well-being
  • Recommend and monitor the usage of budget, personnel, and facilities for Student Health Services to ensure compliance with regulations and optimal clinical health service delivery to students. Coordinate and execute contracting for Student Health Services
  • Lead and align Student Health Services strategies and resources with Division and University priorities and national best practices. Identify and implement strategies to ensure that Student Health Services meets the needs of diverse student communities (e.g., racially minoritized communities, LGBTQ+, first-generation, non-traditional, military-affiliated, etc.)
  • Review, revise, implement and monitor procedures and policies related to Student Health Services to ensure compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, Title IX, Clery Act, and other state and federal guidelines that govern the safety and wellness of students on college campuses
  • Serve as a Student Health Services chief spokesperson and consultant to campus partners and parents, remaining current in state and in state and national college student mental health trends
  • Lead research and assessment initiatives for Student Health Services. Direct Student Health Services department's participation in national college student health research and assessment initiatives (e.g., ACHA National Collegiate Health Assessment, etc.) and leverage data to effectively plan and communicate the impacts of strategies on student health
  • Cultivate strategies with campus and community partners to expand and integrate student health education in the curriculum and co-curriculum
  • Collaborate with the Director for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and campus partners to promote preventative health programs and community-based health services and outreach on campus
  • Coordinate and assess alcohol/drug education and recovery programs with campus partners
  • Provide oversight and leadership for reproductive health services programs
  • Participate in professional organizations that promote college student health and wellbeing (e.g., American College Health Association, NASPA, ACPA, NJSOPHE, NPHIC, etc.)
  • Coordinate contact tracing efforts for student health epidemics and other public health priorities with institutional and community partners
  • Serve as a member of the Student Health and Wellness Leadership Team and the Vice President for Student Affairs Leadership Council and University committees as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Wellness and/or the Vice President for Student Affairs

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Health Education or related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience of professional health promotion/services work experience
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH) or eligible and intent to become certified
  • Experience conducting needs assessments and using results to guide programmatic decisions and budget allocations
  • Proficiency with social health promotion and marketing strategies
  • Demonstrated success facilitating health access education and services to historically underserved student communities
  • Prior experience supervising professional staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and Inclusive Student Success

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree in public health, health promotion, health policy or health education
  • Minimum of three years of experience of professional health promotion work experience in a higher education setting
  • Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) or eligible with intent to become certified with advanced CHES credentialing
  • Previous experience supervising medical staff in a clinical setting
  • Health Education/Risk Communication (HERC) experience
  • Experience in infectious disease and/or epidemiology
  • Active membership and involvement with national college/university health services and promotions promotion or college counseling associations (e.g., ACHA, APHA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of college student development theory and models
